Q. What is
Art and Creative Therapy?
A. Creative therapy has only
recently been recognised a few years ago as it is an alternative to
main stream therapies. Since my training I have worked with many
people and organisations using this, including running courses for the
N.H.S.
Creative therapy is based on the philosophy that everyone is innately
creative and by exploring this further a client is able to gain an
insight to their creative nature, weather that is in the form of
creative writing, dance or craft work.
Its aim is to ‘bring into being by the means of friendly help’ and to
promote a response to the need to be creative. Through self discovery,
fun and exploration, a further understanding of who we are as
individuals and our human natures can be gained.
Art therapy is a more
established form of therapy. It has long been recognised that by using
the medium of art with a client on a therapeutic basis for the
purposes of counselling, a connection to the subconscious can be
achieved. This in turn can reveal hidden motives and feelings that are
not being recognised. Its aim is to help address these by further
using art to identify and find release.
Q. How will it help?
A. For groups of people and
individuals, the creative therapy course is a fun and collective way
of exploring and developing by using a variety of different materials
in a new and exciting way. Art Therapy is an established alternative
to counselling that uses the medium of Art to understand personal
difficulties.
Q. Who is it for?
A. Groups and individuals that
want to explore the self through creative means.
Q.
How is it different?
A. Both forms of Therapy are
different as they offer an alternative and agreeable approach form
main stream therapies.
Q.

up to six people = six 1.5 hour long sessions or one day course. Art
therapy = 6 sessions
Q.
