FAQ

Q.
What is an Assertiveness based Course?

A. Assertiveness is a skill that we can all learn to use more effectively. It is the ability to state clearly what it is you want need or feel, but not at the expense of other people. Unfortunately, due to cultural restrictions and this skill not being put into practice, we all tend to respond misleadingly to requests that are difficult or to criticism negatively. In turn we can create communication difficulties and further misunderstanding.

One of the most common causes of poor communication and relationship difficulties is due lack of personal confidence or low self-esteem. We tend to try and take back control in various inappropriate ways causing power struggles rather than compassion and understanding. This course is designed to help to address this.

Whether within personal or working relationships, learning to be assertive enables both parties to be heard, feel valued and to find solutions to the difficulties.

This course was developed in response to requests from Solicitors wanting to reduce stress and improve working relationships, Social support organisations such as Plus wanting to enable their clients to be more assertive and individuals wanting improve there confidence and value within relationships.
