Q. What is Counselling and Mentoring?
A.
Counselling is the action of listening and supporting people in order
to enable them to work through their mental health difficulties. There
are different forms of counselling and varying amounts of time needed
before completion. The form of counselling that I practice and was
trained in (for the Citizen Advice bureau) is Person centred
counselling, which considers and focuses on the person as whole.
In more resent years I have trained as a Mentor for Exeter University.
This is the practice of Listening and feeding back an overview with
suggestions of help or actions.
Due to many years experience and my focus of my work being on courses,
I have found by offering a combination of counselling and mentoring on
a short term basis in order to help a person resolve personal
difficulties a fruitful option. I offer this in two ways; a) pre and
post courses or b) on a periodic basis e.g. every three weeks or as
required, so as to give ongoing support.
Q. How will it help?
A.
This form of support is helpful in order to address personal issues
pre courses. It will also be offered post course to some clients as a
form of ongoing support in order to resolve current difficulties.
I also provide a service for some people of counselling and mentoring
as a form of objective support whilst they are going through tough
life circumstances.
Q. Who is it for?
A.
Anyone,
who would benefit from this unique form of support.

themselves through their difficulties.
